Hello! My name is Nicholas Hall, AKA The Dirty Traveler. As a lover of travel, adventure, and all things outdoors, my spontaneous lifestyle has brought me to some incredible place, and inevitably, into a fair share of dirt, sweat, and stories worth telling.

I’m from Upstate New York, just outside of the great Adirondack Park, where my love for the outdoors first took root. When I’m not working or typing away, you can usually find me roaming forests, climbing peaks, paddling lakes and rivers, gazing at the stars, skiing or snowboarding, biking, or simply grabbing a beer with good friends after a long day outside.

I’ve been fortunate to spend much of my time exploring the landscapes of the Northeast—especially the Adirondacks and the Great North Woods of Maine—places that continue to shape how I move through the world. Along the way, I’ve wandered farther too, including time spent in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, always chasing that feeling of being small in big places.

At my core, I’m a proud “Type 2 Fun” enthusiast—drawn to experiences that challenge me and the people around me to step outside our comfort zones. I believe some of the most meaningful moments come from uncertainty, discomfort, and the unknown (within reason, of course). The kind of days that feel tough in the moment but turn into the stories you tell for years.

This blog is a place for those stories: the muddy, exhausting, awe-inspiring, and occasionally ridiculous moments that make up a life spent chasing adventure. Whether it’s a multi-day canoe trip, a mountain summit, or a spontaneous journey somewhere new, I hope these stories inspire you to get outside, embrace a little discomfort, and find your own version of adventure.
